Save Energy and Lower Energy Costs While Staying Warm this Winter
Now that the temperature is steadily dropping and winter is in full swing, it is time to employ simple ways to stay warm while managing your energy consumption and keeping your energy bills as affordable as possible.
One way to stay warm while avoiding the high costs (both to the planet and to your wallet) of increasing energy consumption is to keep the heat in and cold out with simple, inexpensive measures you can take today.
Lower your heating costs and stay warm and cozy by using draft guards at the bottom of doors leading outside or to unheated areas, like patios or garages, and insulating windows to help them efficiently hold in heat and block the cold.
Draft guards help to limit the transfer of air between your cozy, heated home and the outdoors and can be as simple as a rolled up towel, or an easy sewing or knitting project for crafty folks. Draft guards can also be inexpensively purchased for folks who might not be the crafty sort.
Insulating your windows is another easy, inexpensive way to limit the transfer of air and keep your energy usage and energy bills at a minimum. You can find window insulation kits (basically thin sheets of plastic that you apply to the glass and blow dry) with simple instructions at any hardware or home store.
