Lower Your Energy Consumption and Your Energy Bills with Power Strips

Published by mavyn at 12:45 pm under Household Tips Edit This

Okay, this is a really easy one and it can help you reduce the energy your appliances and electronics use by up to 40%. This means lower energy bills and limiting your impact on the environment in one easy step.

When appliances and electronics are plugged in, they continue to draw power even when they are turned off. But, there is an easy way to remedy this and save energy and money every day. All you have to do is plug your appliances and electronics into power strips, instead of into wall sockets, and remember to turn off the power switch when not in use.

Lots of appliances and electronics – like toasters, toaster ovens, battery chargers, and the like – can be unplugged and stowed away in cabinets, but it’s much more convenient to leave other items out and plugged in and ready to go – like phone chargers, computers, televisions, DVD players and such. For these items, simply plug them into a power strip that is easy to access (I know I don’t want to crawl under the desk or reach way behind the entertainment center every time I need to flip a switch) and turn the power strip off when you aren’t using these items.

This super easy fix will help you save money, and the planet, with one easy simple step each day.
